FAQ About Bed Assist Rails
What is the Lunderg Bed Assist Rail for Seniors?
Our Bed Assist Rail is a bedside safety handle that helps seniors, post-surgery patients, and anyone with limited mobility get in and out of bed more safely and independently. It helps reduce roll-off risk and provides a sturdy, ergonomic non-slip grip for sitting up, standing, or repositioning.
What sizes do you offer, and how do I choose between 13" and 17.5"?
We offer two handle widths: 13" and 17.5". The 13" is a great everyday option for most users and tighter spaces. The 17.5" gives you a larger gripping area and more coverage—ideal if you want extra room to grab or reposition.
What versions are available (with light, with bag, standard)?
You can choose the setup that fits your needs:
- 13" with Motion Sensor Light (with or without the optional storage bag)
- 17.5" with Motion Sensor Light (with or without the optional storage bag)
- 13" Standard version (no motion light and no bag)
What does the motion sensor light do, and why is it helpful?
Our motion-activated safety light automatically turns on when it detects movement—making nighttime trips (like bathroom visits) safer without needing to turn on harsh room lights. In Auto mode, it stays on for about 60 seconds per activation, and the rechargeable battery lasts weeks on a charge. It attaches with an easy magnetic connection designed to stay secure.
What is the optional storage bag used for?
The optional storage bag (our PRO-style accessory) adds convenient bedside organization—great for items like glasses, remote, medications, magazines, and more (including a pen holder).
Will it fit my bed size?
Yes. Our bed rails are designed to work with mattress sizes from Twin to King, and they can be installed on either side of the bed.
Is it sturdy enough for daily use? What’s the weight rating?
Yes. The rail is built from heavy-duty steel (carbon steel) and is load-tested to 300 lb for stable, wobble-free support.
Is it hard to install? Do I need tools?
No tools needed. Installation is designed to be quick and simple: the rail arrives partly pre-assembled, connects with pushpins, slides under the mattress, and secures to the bed—typically in about 5 minutes. For extra stability, we include a frame safety strap, and the system also uses non-slip components to help prevent shifting.
How do I clean and maintain the bed rail?
Wipe it clean with a damp cloth as needed.
Is a bed assist rail the same as a full bed rail?
A bed assist rail is primarily a support handle for safer transfers and repositioning. It can help reduce roll-offs, but it is not intended to fully enclose the bed like some full-length safety rail systems. If you need full containment, we recommend discussing the safest option with your care team.
